I feel very lucky and privileged to work in London after many years of teaching and working as an orthodontist in different parts of the world.  I’d like to tell you a little about my journey.

My first contact with orthodontics was when I was in primary school. I remember being over the moon when I got my first sparkling expander. And that pretty much marked the first step in my path to dental school and then to the department of orthodontics.

I studied dentistry in Hacettepe University, Turkey, and after finishing dental school I did another 6 years of study in the same university to become an Orthodontist and earn a PhD.

After those 11 years of dental and orthodontic training I enrolled in Boston University to conduct further research in the science of bone and tooth movement.

I spent a year carrying out postdoctoral research, and was then invited to begin teaching at the Boston University Dental School’s Department of Orthodontics. I remained in Boston teaching as an Assistant Professor and seeing patients for 5 years.  It was during this period that I teamed up with Dr. Serge Dibart, a world-renowned leader in accelerated orthodontics (Piezocision), and together we developed new and innovative techniques. I have been publishing and lecturing on accelerated orthodontics extensively in many parts of the world ever since.

In 2010, I was offered the opportunity to take up the role as the first program director for Boston University’s newly-established orthodontic program in Dubai, UAE.

The time I spent with Boston University in Boston and Dubai was challenging and enjoyable, and brought me into contact with many brilliant people. And my connection with BU as an adjunct professor and lecturer continues to this day. But when the opportunity arose to move to Istanbul to work with one of the best aesthetic dentists in the world, Dr Galip Gurel, I simply couldn’t resist and headed home to Turkey. Practising orthodontics in connection with professionals practising aesthetic dentistry was a great experience and education, and I participated in new treatments for developing and creating many exceptional smiles.  And that experience taught me to incorporate every aspect of dentistry, facial aesthetics and art in orthodontic treatments.

After a number of years in Istanbul, another great opportunity arose – this time to move to London. To continue practising orthodontics in the UK, I of course first had to pass a set of rigorous exams to obtain my registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).  After passing these exams I was able to start seeing patients, and this led to the opening of my private practice at Wimpole Street.

After spending 5 years at the Wimpole street, I moved Boston Orthodontics to its current location in Belgravia. We are proud to practice in a beautiful building with state of the art equipment and a great team.

My approach has always been to provide the best possible personalised orthodontic treatment. Every individual has unique features that need to be understood and addressed . My job is not only to straighten teeth but also to create harmony of the face.

I believe a confident smile has the power to change everything.

A healthy Mouth is a Great Asset

Our teeth have such an important role to play in our lives. They help us chew and digest food, they help us to talk and speak clearly and they also give our face its shape. A smile also has other day-to-day benefits. It can give us greater confidence, as well as influence our social lives, careers and relationships.

Because of this, it only makes sense to give our oral health the best care possible.

A healthy smile can truly transform our visual appearance, the positivity of our mind-set, as well as improving the health of not only our mouth but our body too.

Here at Boston Orthodontics, we now offer Dental Services!

A dental exam is part of a check-up of your teeth and gums. When you see your dentist for a check-up, the visit usually includes three parts:

  • A dental cleaning to remove the build-up of plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that coats your teeth
  • X-rays of your teeth on certain visits, depending on the health of your teeth
  • An exam of your teeth and mouth by a dentist

Dental exams are important for protecting your oral health. Oral health includes your teeth, gums, and all the muscles and bones that let you smile, speak, and chew. Common oral health problems, such as tooth decay (cavities) and gum disease (periodontal disease), can lead to pain, infection, and tooth loss.

Dental Hygiene is the term given to the daily routine of keeping your mouth clean and healthy. You can maintain good oral hygiene by following the correct brushing technique. This also includes flossing, using interdental brushes, rinsing with mouthwash and by seeing your dentist or registered dental hygienist regularly. This will ensure your teeth have a professional clean to ensure optimum teeth hygiene.

Fillings/ Sealants

Dental fillings are widely regarded as one of the most minimally invasive and straightforward procedures to improve the appearance of your teeth. Dental composite bonding will provide fantastic results.

We also offer children’s dental sealants that are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of your child’s back teeth, specifically the molars and premolars. These areas have deep grooves and fissures where food particles and bacteria can easily accumulate, making them susceptible to cavities. Fissure sealants act as a barrier, preventing food and bacteria from settling into these vulnerable areas.

Fluoride Varnish

Fluoride varnish is a thin, protective coating applied to your kids’ teeth. It contains fluoride, a natural mineral that has been proven to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent cavities. This treatment is specifically designed for children’s dental care and is a painless and quick procedure.

Fluoride varnish offers several essential benefits for your child’s oral health:

  • Cavity Prevention: Fluoride varnish provides an extra layer of defence against tooth decay, reducing the risk of cavities.
  • Strengthening Tooth Enamel: It helps strengthen and protect your child’s teeth, making them more resistant to acid attacks from sugars and plaque.
  • Safe and Painless: Application is quick and comfortable, ensuring a positive experience for your child.
Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is the No.1 requested and performed cosmetic dental procedure in the UK. In everyday life, the microscopic pores of your teeth are pigmented with substances such as red wine, coffee and tobacco. These, in conjunction with age-related changes, can give your smile a stained and discoloured appearance. Teeth whitening, also known as teeth bleaching, lightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discolouration. It is effective in 95% of patients.

Teeth whitening is the ideal procedure to have just before that important social occasion allowing you to have a radiant smile in all of your photos.
